3D Animation & Cloth Simulation
Description:
Desert Cloth Simulation
Desert Cloth Simulation is a 3D character animation and dynamic cloth simulation created with two main goals: create an engaging and realistic character animation and design, create, and simulate multiple types of clothing and fabrics. Additionally, in post-production I focused on using lighting and color grading to create a dramatic composition. Using a character model obtained from Mixamo and rigged using Advanced Skeleton, I created a short narrative that shows off an outfit modeled and simulated in Marvelous Designer.
The outfit design is inspired by Middle Eastern, Romani, and Persian traditional clothing as well as fictional desert-based video game characters such as Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and assorted characters of Assassin’s Creed: Origins and Assassin’s Creed: Mirage. In the creation of the outfit in Marvelous Designer, I explored the ways both draping and pattern making are utilized to create a dynamic piece of clothing. The chest and foot wraps focus on draping and folding, while the sirwal focuses on the clothing pattern itself and using cutouts to conform to the model’s body.
The final composition was put together in After Effects and color graded in Premiere Pro, with sound effects sourced from Freesound.org and music from Pixabay.com.
